... Squirrels

So, I'm sitting in my house trying to concentrate on work but instead I'm being distracted by things falling on the roof. Directly outside the house is a very large oak tree so it's not unusual to hear these types of noises when there's a storm, however, there wasn't even a breeze. After an hour or two of thuds and bangs, with a mix of curiosity and frustration I go outside to find...

Squirrels. A lot of them. Between 10-15 at least. Running all over the house and tree, chasing each other and knocking down bark and branches. It looked like they were having so much fun.

It was a nice break from work. I was enjoying watching them play until, that is, a few of them came pretty close to me. Call me silly but I was a little freaked out by that part. I'd just watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the night before. You know, the creepy scene where where the squirrels toss Veruca Salt into the trash because she's a bad nut. So after having them skitter by me, I opted go back inside and leave the squirrels to their game of chase.

And that was my day, how about yours?

How many squirrels can you find in this next picture?

Four? Some days we need those quiet (or not so quiet) interupptions to get refocused.

Happy week Michelle

Four? Yeah, that is pretty creepy. I was weeding our flower beds just a few weeks ago and I felt something a lil 'skeletal' under the mulch. It turned out to be part of a dead rodent with very large teeth. I immediately started spitting ang screaming... RAT! RAT! Of coarse it freaked me out because where there's one enormous rat, there's bound to be millions! Anyway, when David got home, he informed me that it was a squirrel. That made me feel bad for screaming... Poor squirrel.

On principle, I detest squirrels. We had some eat their way into our attic and it was really hard to get rid of them...you could hear them running across the floor boards and it was creepy....what if they ate their way out of the attic? And then they did, we came home and found the living room in disaray, I thought someone had broken into our house. We were about to call the police when we heard a crash in the kitchen. There was a squirrel on the counter...we had to chase it out with a broom. That being said, there is something kind of cute about them. They do always seem to be having a lot of fun.

Oh boy. Squirrels are crazy. We were nearly chased down by a squirrel today. How fun to watch though.

I see four I think. That is a lot. They have been smashing the nuts on our oak tree onto the deck and the driveway...they both are a mess. Okay squirrels kinda freak me out...they are like rats with fluffy tails. They taunt Leroy here throwing stuff at him and squeaking...he caught one in VA once.

I see at least 5 in the picture.

So, you say you were freaked out by some squirrels? I've seen this somewhere before... oh yes, in the bush!!! Haha! Except you levitated about 2 feet off your chair that time :)

Oh wait! I take that back. I think I was seeing things. Yes, 4 squirrels.

Nanny Cath's seeing squirrels!

Yes Catherine, but that Squirrel actually WAS attacking me. It ran straight at me and jumped on my lap and tried to steal my food. Who knew they breed aggressive squirrels in Africa!
