Amy and the kids came over for a visit last week. Since it was a lovely 70-something day with fresh, non-humid air, we strolled across the street to the park for some outdoor playtime.
Gwyneth squealed with glee and ran in circles. I imagine it was because of the beautiful day but who knows. Check out her little-girl sassy attitude.
Austin (Happy Birthday Munch!), on a whole different spectrum, chucked the Frisbee aside and informed us that we were to play spider solitaire with him in our heads. This kid will, no doubt, soon be charting entire games of chess in his head and well on his way to becoming a chess master. Seriously. But not me, so I tried to convince him to play another game with me, making a sort of maze out of the tree shadows. In the end we compromised with a game of chase.
Check out this family, are they beautiful or what?!
Thanks for coming over guys. I always love having you! :)

cute cute Gwen! Solitaire in your head??--yikes! Austin amazes me.
They are so cute....what fun
Cute pics, Meesh.
Michelle, you take beautiful pictures! Did you read photography books to learn about lighting or was it all trial and error - or automatic settings? I can't believe how big Gwenyth is! Amy has such big kids now - that's crazy! They're so adorable. I miss you guys.
Thanks for the compliment Libby! No, I haven't read any photography books but I do study photographers I like and try to figure out how they created their shot. Over the years it's been trial and error. I have a long way to go but sometimes I get it right.
I use all natural lighting. As I know you know (since your husband has a Masters in lighting), there is a lot to learn with lights so I stick with sunlight. At my expertise level, it just looks more natural.
As for the camera settings, I almost never use automatic anymore. I did when I was first starting out. It helped to minimize the variables so I could focus on other things but now I enjoy playing around with the aperture, shudder speed, iso, exposure, etc.
Miss you too!
