... A Dog's Life

Many of you know already, but I'm not exactly a dog person. Oh sure, there have been the dog or two that have made their way into my heart. Sidney for instance. I pet sat her for two weeks and had loads of fun playing catch with her in the backyard. But for the most part, I'm not too into dogs. Petting them. Them sniffing me. The smell. The hair. Blessings to you that love your dogs. I'm happy for you. I'm just not one of you.

Yet, there is nothing quite like watching a dog run at full speed. It's such a lovely site and one I get the pleasure of witnessing often. I live across the street from a dog park. There are no fences. Just an acre or two of beautiful land covered with trees and lots of dogs. And there are the regulars too, like the dog who has a wheelchair attached to it's hind side to help it get around, or the two Irish Setters that are out there right now terrorizing the squirrels.

So on this cool autumn morning, sitting on my front porch wrapped in a sweater & sipping my coffee, I'm watching a slew of dogs enjoy their dog life and the freedom of running full speed through the fall leaves. As they were meant to...

Fun post, Michelle! By the way, I'm not a dog person either.

They really epitomize exuberance and genuine love of life, don't they? Even when they have to run around on wheels!

Wish I could have joined you for a cup of tea on your porch this morning - it was lovely out :)

Sounds relaxing. Dogs can be really funny at times. Especially running with their tongues flapping behind them.

I'm dogsitting for my inlaws. As you know, I'm not a dog person. Except for a 'maggie dog' like my mom's (my mom isn't a dog person either).
Anyway, we're the official dogsitters fo Rocky , yes that's his name. I'm not quite sure how it ended up this way, but we get him on a regular basis now.

So Michelle, this post made me think of that scene in 101 Dalmations.... Each dog looks just like its owner. You should try to capture that in the dog park. That would be so cool!!

What a great idea Jessica! Because, seriously, they do. I'm not joking. The dogs look and act like their owner. Or is it the other way around? NO JOKE! It's freaky. Or would I be the freaky one with my ultra zoom lense, hiding behind my bushes, trying to capture the dogs and their owners? ;-)

Okay to clarify. I just read your comments after I posted.

I DO NOT SIT AROUND AND FART!!!! AND please please please tell me I don't look like Leroy...maybe Aaron does though

No Bethany, you do not look (or smell) like Leroy! How could I forget our New Years together?? Cath and I snuggling on the couch with the two hottest guys around.... hehe. I don't think Leroy looks like any of your family members.

Not 30 minutes ago I was in the front yard and saw guy-dog matchy combo. Blond curly hair on both. I laughed out loud.

When Reb and I were in Martha's Vineyard I saw a guy (sans shirt) walking his dog. I snuck a pic b/c both he and the dog were covered with lots of black hair. Actually, the guys back might have had more back hair than the dog. Ewwww.... haha

Ha! LOL - Bethany's comment was great. Good old Leroy and his wonderful aroma :)
