"When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just." Luke 14: 12-14

Was just talking about this with some friends the other day. I was reminded that to show love it's better to give it to people who can't pay you back or return the favor. It's better to give a meal to those who can't give you a meal back. Jesus, has some concepts that aren't easy to swallow at times.

Hey Michelle - remember me? It's over six years since I came back home to London from my fun year with you guys, but I found your blog through your comments on Jennifer's, so am just checking it out in a quiet moment before the day gets too busy!
Thanks for posting this challenging quote - one I think I too easily forget. I love how it completely knocks any form of social climbing, which is so common and so easily slipped into without even thinking about it. The thing for me is to keep remembering that and keep checking my mindset and motives. Maybe this quote needs to go up somewhere prominent in my apartment!
Hope you are doing good and enjoying life - has been cool to catch up a bit on what's going on with you through your blog today!
Great verse. Very thought provoking. I definitely need to grow in this area ...
thanks for the reminder...is this a dish from your kitchen? It looks sooo yummy!!
Hey Liz, yep... it is a dish from my kitchen. I thought it looked pretty but it lacked flavor so it won't be one I'll make again. But I thought it did make a nice picture. :)
