I spoke recently about my experiences at a fabric store in New York and my desire to learn to sew. Well, I did it. I chose some fun fabrics by Amy Butler Design and off I went.I have to say I learned alot about myself. When calculating how to cut the fabric I saw what a perfectionist I really am. And when trying to figure out how to use the sewing machine my independent streak shown brightly.
But in the end, I'm pretty happy with my first efforts. There are lots of little things that didn't go so well which means I now know how and why to do something and will likely never make those mistakes again.
I've already ordered & received fabric for my next project - kitchen curtains. This time I'm not even going to follow a pattern. I guess that means my adventerous side is getting involved.

How did you do this? I've been saying I've wanted a sewing machine so I can really learn how to sew since before Dave and I got married! I'm so envious that you just decide you're going to do something and then you do it! You are my inspiration! I love the placemats! Very cute fabric. Will you teach me when you come visit? :)
