... International Justice Mission

My home went on the market this week and many of you have asked where I will be going. The answer right now is, I don't know. I am, however, pursuing a job in DC with a human rights organization called International Justice Mission.

IJM was founded 10 years ago after a study brought light to the fact that there is near unanimous awareness of abuses of power but little resource or expertise to confront the abuse or rescue to the victims. "When the poor are hungry, homeless or alienated, the Church has come to their aid by providing food, shelter and missionaries to meet the pressing needs. But when the poor have been oppressed, treated unjustly and suffered under the hand of someone more powerful, little was done on their behalf."

Dealing primarily with human trafficking, IJM has a very balanced four-fold perspective focusing on victim relief, perpetrator accountability, structural prevention, and victim aftercare.

The position I applied for is in the Department of Interventions. I am not sure how competitive it is, but I'd appreciate your prayers as I wait to hear back and hopefully get an interview.

He loves me?! Well, that is the best reason I've gotten yet to move out there. ;-)

Michelle, It would be way cool for you to work for/with IJM. Of course, all office admin will completely come apart and revert back to the same state I had all my affairs in prior to you rescue me and my mess.
Perhaps you may open the 5th avenue at IJM and require the help of "SOT"!
God bless you my dear, Chris

Wow, that's awesome, I'll be praying for you! That is a great organization that I learned about through Sara Groves and read the book last year. It really impacted me about sexual/human trafficking. What a good work they're doing.
